Frequently Asked Questions

No, you must have at least one year of experience in a job that falls under TEER 0, 1, 2 or 3 which is the National Occupational Classification depending upon the category of Express Entry.

Even though not having a job offer does not disqualifies your Express Entry profile, but having one can help you earn more CRS points. You won’t, however, be eligible for several programmes for skilled workers that need a job offer from a Canadian business.

Canadian employers and employees from abroad frequently need to go through a two-step process in order to secure a work visa for Canada. The Canadian Employer must first submit an application to ESDC for a Labor Market Impact Assessment before an Employee submitting their work permit application to Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC). ESDC grants the LMIA, which authorises the Canadian employer to hire a foreign worker, after taking into account a number of protective labour market factors.

Out of a possible 1,200 points, candidates in the Express Entry pool who receive a nomination from a province are given 600 points under the Comprehensive Ranking System.
